The new Tekken installments look all set to be a major hit before its release on 26th January 2024. In this blog, we will analyze all the details you need to know before its release. We will take a look at aspects such as:

  • Mechanics
  • New Fighters
  • Features

Tekken 7 which was released almost six years ago was a major hit worldwide. Therefore, Tekken 8 will have bigger shoes to fill. Unlike Tekken 7, the upcoming game will have a smaller character roster and feature-focused sets.

Tekken 8: Features and Gameplay

In this section, we will take a look at all the gameplay features you can expect from this upcoming game.

The two new mechanics introduced by Bandai are an All-New Heat System and a Special Style feature. The developers added a Special Style feature to make the game more beginner-friendly.

On the other hand, the Heat System feature is introduced to allow players to build up heat energy and then use it for combos and combat options. This feature is designed to make combat more exciting and aggressive. It will work as a tactical feature that will change Tekken for the better.

Tekken 8: Characters Update

Tekken 7 saw an impressive roster that introduced new characters. But in Tekken 8, the developers have decided to tone down the character roster this time.

Instead of giving us the whole list of rosters, they reduced the number of characters this time. They offered a total of three new characters in total which included:

  1. Reina Mashima
  2. Azucena
  3. Victor Chevalier

These three new fighters offer an amazing range of variety and customization options. Apart from them, the game also includes 29 veteran fighters from the Tekken franchise which include:

  • Panda
  • Zafina
  • Lee Chaolan
  • Alisa Bonsconovitch
  • Devil Jin
  • Shaheen
  • Steve Fox
  • Leo
  • Kuma
  • Raven
  • And many more!

The playable characters are now more detailed and improved. This aspect has made each fighter more interesting and engaging which is a welcome change.

Tekken 8: Unreal Engine 5

Another important aspect of Tekken 8 is the addition of Unreal Engine 5 which will further improve combat physics and features.

There were concerns that the use of Unreal Engine may have some potential impact on the overall performance especially on low-end spec systems like Steam Deck. However, after the beta testing on Steam Deck, the results were positive.

What’s Next for Tekken 8?

With Tekken 8, Bandai has the opportunity to create a new era of Tekken. With plenty of new features, characters, and a comprehensive story, there is plenty to look forward to before its release on 26th January.
